SINDHUDURG: The Maharashtra waterfall snake video has gone viral after capturing the frightening moment a large snake suddenly fell from rocks above and landed on a man who was carrying a young child in his arms.
The incident was reported at Amboli Waterfall, a popular monsoon attraction in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district. Footage circulating online shows a family gathered on wet rocks near the cascading water while the man carefully moves across the slippery area holding the child.
Within seconds, a large snake appears to drop from the rocky area above and lands across or very close to the man’s shoulder.
People nearby immediately scream and begin moving away. The man carrying the child also reacts as the reptile slips down towards the rocks and disappears into the surrounding crevices.
Was the snake a cobra?
A person recording the scene can be heard claiming that the reptile is a large cobra. However, reports covering the incident have stressed that the snake’s species has not been officially or independently confirmed.
That distinction is important because identifying a snake accurately from brief viral footage can be difficult, particularly when the animal is moving quickly and only partially visible.
There have been no reports of the man, child or other visitors being bitten or injured during the encounter. The snake moved away from the group shortly after falling.
