ABU DHABI: Indian PM Narendra Modi is set to visit the UAE on May 15 for high-level talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as both countries continue strengthening their strategic and economic partnership.
The visit forms part of a wider overseas tour covering Europe and is expected to focus on energy cooperation, trade, investment, defence and regional stability. Officials from both sides are also expected to review progress under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which has significantly expanded bilateral trade in recent years.
Indian PM Narendra Modi’s UAE visit comes at a time of growing geopolitical uncertainty in the region, including concerns surrounding maritime security and energy supply routes such as the Strait of Hormuz. Both countries are expected to exchange views on developments in West Asia and discuss ways to maintain uninterrupted trade and shipping flows.

The UAE remains India’s third-largest trading partner, while cumulative UAE investments into India have crossed $22 billion since 2000. Bilateral trade between the two nations reached approximately $84 billion during 2023-24, reflecting the rapidly growing economic relationship.

“Prime Minister Modi’s upcoming visit to the UAE reflects the warmth, trust, and shared ambition that have steadily come to define the relationship between the two countries. India and the UAE have built a partnership that extends far beyond trade, shaped equally by strong leadership, deep cultural ties, and the contributions of millions of Indians who proudly call the UAE home.
For the business community, this continued engagement between both nations sends a very positive message. It reinforces a shared vision for growth, innovation, and long-term collaboration across sectors such as trade, infrastructure, energy, and technology. The relationship between India and the UAE continues to deepen, creating meaningful opportunities for businesses, investors, and communities in both countries.”

Energy cooperation is expected to remain a key agenda point during Indian PM Narendra Modi’s UAE visit, alongside discussions on clean energy, infrastructure, logistics and technology partnerships. Defence and cybersecurity cooperation may also feature prominently following recent agreements signed between the two countries.
The welfare of the Indian expatriate community is also likely to be discussed. Around 4.7 million Indians live and work across the UAE, making them the country’s largest expatriate population and a major contributor across sectors including healthcare, finance, retail, hospitality and construction.
After concluding the UAE leg of the trip, Indian PM Narendra Modi will continue his overseas visit with stops in the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy.
