DUBAI: World Arthritis Day 2026 will bring medical specialists, patients and wellness experts together for a free community event at Shangri-La Dubai on October 24, offering practical guidance on arthritis treatment, joint health and everyday wellbeing.

Organised by the Middle East Arthritis Foundation (MEAF) in collaboration with the Emirates Society for Rheumatology, the event will run from 8 am to 4 pm.

The programme follows the global “Achieve Your Dreams” campaign, encouraging people living with arthritis to remain active, informed and confident despite the challenges of chronic conditions.

What can visitors expect from the free event?

The day begins with registration and networking at 8 am, followed by opening remarks from MEAF founding member Dr Humeira Badsha at 9 am.

At 9.15 am, Master Mo Dalong will introduce Tai Chi for Arthritis, demonstrating gentle movements designed to support balance, flexibility and comfortable physical activity.

A medical discussion from 9.45 am will feature Dr Olena Garmish and Dr Bhavna Khan, exploring targeted treatments, including biologic therapies, and pregnancy considerations for patients with rheumatic diseases.

Attendees will also have opportunities to ask questions and better understand available treatment approaches.

Nutrition, movement and mental wellbeing take centre stage

At 11 am, the Voices of Resilience panel will bring together patients and medical professionals, including Dr Tania Sultana, Dr Maisam Musgrave and Dr Francis Kynaston-Pearson.

Discussions will address diagnosis, workplace adjustments, emotional wellbeing and managing symptoms during everyday activities.

Dr Natasha Shah will lead a nutrition workshop at noon, examining gut health, joint health and practical dietary choices. An accessible dance and movement session led by DANS begins at 1.30 pm, followed by Dr Madiha Khan’s Mind over Pain discussion at 2.15 pm. A relaxation-focused sound-healing session will follow at 2.45 pm.

These activities aim to complement medical care rather than replace professional treatment.

Creative awards celebrate resilience and personal ambitions

The event will conclude with the #RMDreams Poster Awards Ceremony from 3.30 pm to 4 pm. Three awards will recognise participants’ creativity: the Ultimate Resilience Award, Visionary Dreamer Award and People’s Choice Award.

Through personal artwork, participants can share experiences, achievements and future aspirations.

Impact to expect

World Arthritis Day 2026 could strengthen arthritis awareness across the UAE by connecting patients directly with medical specialists and practical wellbeing resources. Greater understanding of treatment options, physical activity and emotional support may encourage earlier medical consultations and more informed daily health decisions.
