Pringles launches a bizarre Halloween sweepstakes offering one fan a custom, precious-metal burial urn shaped like a Pringles can and an “afterlifetime” 200-year supply of chips worth $28,080 in cash
CHICAGO: Pringles is taking its famous slogan to the grave with a bizarre Halloween promotion offering one devoted fan a custom-designed Pringles can-shaped urn and an extraordinary 200-year supply of chips.
The unusual giveaway, called Once You Drop, invites American consumers to demonstrate their lifelong devotion to the snack brand by signing a mock document promising to have their ashes buried inside a Pringles can.
The campaign launched on October 13 and runs until October 22, with the winner expected to be notified around Halloween.
Pringles offers 10,400 cans worth $28,080
The grand prize includes an engraved precious-metal urn modelled after the iconic Pringles container.
Winners will also receive the equivalent of 52 cans annually for 200 years, amounting to 10,400 cans.
However, the company will award the supply as a $28,080 cash prize rather than delivering thousands of physical cans.
Including the urn, the total prize value reaches $28,580.
How can fans enter the Pringles contest?
The competition is open to legal US residents aged 18 and above.
Participants must visit OnceYouDrop.com and electronically sign a humorous document called the Will and Taste-ament.
Despite its unusual promise, the document is purely promotional and carries no legal obligation.
Only one entry is permitted per person, and no purchase is necessary.
Why is Pringles giving away an urn?
The campaign draws inspiration from Fredric Baur, who designed the distinctive Pringles packaging in 1966.
Baur reportedly requested that part of his ashes be buried inside a Pringles can after his death in 2008.
His family honoured the unusual wish, turning the container into an unexpected part of the inventor’s legacy.
Pringles has revived that story through a Halloween campaign combining dark humour, brand nostalgia and an unconventional giveaway.
