Sharjah: H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah and head of the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy (SPAA), led a meeting at the academy building in Sharjah’s University City.

At the start, H.H. welcomed everyone, thanking them for their hard work, especially as the academy just graduated its first group of students.

The board approved a plan for SPAA from 2024 to 2029. They aim to get international recognition and become one of the top arts schools worldwide. They also want to help graduates find jobs and get them ready for work, adding more talent to the arts field.

The board decided that SPAA should become a place where all performing arts come together. Students will learn to the highest standards, preparing them for careers in global arts. They’ll focus on all the art forms SPAA offers.

The board also agreed on the budget for this year. They appointed Ahmed Mohammed Al Mazmi to lead the academy’s alumni association. They also decided to offer a Master of Fine Arts program in directing, editing, and acting.

They looked at how the first group of SPAA graduates are doing. It turns out, 85% of them found jobs, which is great news.

Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, who leads the Sharjah Art Foundation and is the Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, was at the meeting along with other officials.
