ABU DHABI: Louvre Abu Dhabi has achieved a historic milestone, welcoming over 1.4 million visitors in 2024—its highest annual attendance since opening. This brings the museum’s total visitor count to more than 6 million, reinforcing its status as a leading global cultural institution.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi visitors were predominantly international, making up 84% of the total. The top sources were China and Russia (12% each), followed by India (7%), and France and the UK (6%). The figures highlight the museum’s worldwide appeal and its role in shaping Abu Dhabi’s cultural landscape.
According to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, this record-breaking success reflects the museum’s dedication to fostering cultural exchange through world-class exhibitions, interactive educational programmes, and immersive experiences.
Saood Abdulaziz Al Hosani, Undersecretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, said the achievement underscores the museum’s contribution to the emirate’s cultural transformation, enriching lives and fostering global connections.
Museum Director Manuel Rabaté called 2024 the institution’s best year yet, reflecting its growth, deep local cultural ties, and impact on Abu Dhabi’s thriving tourism sector. He emphasised that Louvre Abu Dhabi’s success paves the way for more cultural institutions to flourish in the emirate.
As the museum celebrates its seventh anniversary, its influence continues to expand, cementing Abu Dhabi’s position as a global arts hub.
