Here’s something that sounds like it’s straight out of a bizarre story — but unfortunately, it’s real. A cyclist in Oregon recently had the worst kind of ride in an ambulance.
William Hoesch, 71, was hit by the ambulance in question after its driver made a right turn, fracturing his nose and leaving him with scrapes as well as other injuries across his body.

After getting struck by an ambulance, he was taken to the hospital for treatment, only to be hit with a hefty bill. How much, you ask? Well, a whopping $1,800.
The twist? The cyclist wasn’t the one who called the ambulance. He had no choice but to ride along after the accident, but instead of getting a simple ‘sorry for the trouble,’ he got a massive bill in his mailbox.
So, naturally, the guy wasn’t happy and has filed a lawsuit. The lawsuit claims Hoesch was left with permanent injuries and has accrued about $47,000 in medical expenses so far, with an additional $50,000 in costs anticipated after his visit to the hospital.
The bill, according to him, seems pretty unfair, considering he didn’t exactly request the service. Imagine getting hurt, needing medical attention, and then being slapped with a bill that feels completely out of nowhere.

The details of this strange case still unfolding are pretty wild, but it’s a reminder to double-check everything when it comes to those ambulance rides. They can come with some unexpected charges. The question everyone’s asking now: will this set off a trend in how ambulance bills are handled in the future? Let’s wait and see!
