Kerala’s Vallamkali in the waters of Ras Al Khaimah 

RAS AL KHAIMAH: The sun shined bright as the oarsmen paddled their way to victory at the RAK Nehru Trophy 2022. The event was packed with over 10,000 people from across the UAE. The festivities included the traditional Vallamkali meaning the snake boat race, Vadamvali meaning thug of war, as well as a Chenda Fusion performance all the way from Kerala by Aattam Kalasamithi Kollannur, and Chemmeen Band. 

Apart from the thrilling boat race, the highlight of the evening was the UAE debut fusion performance by the bands that had the crowd dancing late into the night. The energy of the drum beats as well as the passion of the performers was felt by all in the crowd. Singer Nikhil Mathew’s performance also added his magical voice to make it a memorable night for all.

The Sports Car and Bike Show organized by the Ras Al Khaimah Arab Association in conjunction with the RAK Nehru Trophy Boat Race was another highlight.

The attendees also indulged in various traditional Keralite delicacies as well as cold drinks as they enjoyed the day’s activities at Al Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah.
