LOS ANGELES: You may not immediately recognise Jessica DiCicco’s face, but there is a good chance you have heard her voice.
Born on this day, June 10, 1980, Jessica DiCicco has spent years giving a voice to popular animated characters watched by children and adults around the world.
One of her best-known roles is Flame Princess in Cartoon Network’s hit series Adventure Time. She is also the voice behind both Lynn Loud and Lucy Loud in Nickelodeon’s The Loud House.
But her journey into voice acting started much earlier.

DiCicco attended Syracuse University’s Newhouse School, where she wanted to learn more about television production after doing on-camera work.
Before starting college, she met Nickelodeon producer Mike Pecoriello, who offered her an unusual job: becoming the voice of the children’s educational channel Noggin.
She accepted and continued recording promos while studying at university. She remained the voice of Noggin throughout her college years before graduating in 2002.
More opportunities soon followed.
DiCicco voiced Maggie Pesky in Disney’s The Buzz on Maggie and Malina in The Emperor’s New School. Her performance as Malina earned her a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2008.
Over the years, she has worked on many well-known animated shows, including Gravity Falls, The Mighty B!, American Dragon: Jake Long, The Replacements and It’s Pony.
She has also worked in films, including DreamWorks’ Over the Hedge, and has lent her voice to video games such as Psychonauts and Kingdom Hearts II.
For Jessica DiCicco, a career that began with announcing children’s programmes turned into decades of creating memorable animated characters.
It is also a reminder of something we sometimes forget while watching cartoons.
