The UAE cross-border e-commerce hub continues to expand as strong logistics, digital trade systems and regulations boost the country’s global digital commerce role.
ABU DHABI: The UAE cross-border e-commerce hub has strengthened its global position as the country continues to attract digital trade operations supported by advanced logistics infrastructure, digital government services and a flexible regulatory environment.
Experts say the UAE has become a key platform for cross-border digital commerce, enabling companies to manage regional trade and expand into markets across the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
International reports indicate the UAE ranks among the world’s most prepared markets for digital trade due to its strong digital ecosystem and rapid adoption of modern technologies by businesses.
According to a report by Standard Chartered, the country’s regulatory clarity and advanced digital infrastructure are helping reshape global trade routes while positioning the UAE cross-border e-commerce hub as a major gateway for international companies.
Research by Euromonitor International, conducted in cooperation with EZDubai, shows the UAE’s e-commerce market reached around AED 32.3 billion in 2024. The market is expected to exceed AED 50.6 billion by 2029, representing an average annual growth rate of 9.4 percent.
The UAE is also playing a key role in regional digital trade growth. Across the Middle East and North Africa, the e-commerce market reached approximately $34.5 billion in 2024 and is projected to expand to around $57.8 billion by 2029.
Industry experts highlight the country’s strategic geographic location as a major advantage. Businesses operating from the UAE can reach more than two thirds of the world’s population within an eight hour flight radius.
This connectivity is supported by world class logistics infrastructure, including Dubai International Airport and major port networks, alongside digital customs platforms that accelerate cross-border shipments.
Analysts say the continued development of digital logistics and artificial intelligence will further strengthen the UAE cross-border e-commerce hub, enabling faster trade processes and more efficient global supply chains.
