Abu Dhabi infrastructure reforms aim to speed up project approvals, improve coordination and strengthen long-term delivery across the emirate.
ABU DHABI: Abu Dhabi has introduced a major governance framework aimed at improving coordination and accelerating approvals for strategic development projects across the emirate. Announced during the Abu Dhabi Infrastructure Summit 2026, the initiative brings together 14 government and infrastructure entities under a single mechanism designed to streamline decision-making and improve delivery timelines for major developments. Officials said the new Abu Dhabi infrastructure model will strengthen integration between public entities and reduce delays linked to approvals and No-Objection Certificates.
The agreement was signed in the presence of UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei and Department of Municipalities and Transport Chairman Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, alongside senior representatives from participating authorities and infrastructure partners attending the summit at ADNEC.
A newly formed Joint Committee chaired by the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre will oversee coordination between entities, identify approval bottlenecks and implement corrective action plans against defined timelines. Authorities said the framework is intended to support faster project execution while maintaining governance, transparency and operational efficiency.
Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa said the agreement reflects Abu Dhabi’s ambition to become one of the world’s most coordinated and future-focused infrastructure markets. ADPIC Director General Eng. Maysarah Mahmoud Salim Eid added that stronger governance and collaboration were essential to delivering large-scale projects efficiently while supporting sustainability and economic growth goals.
Participating organisations include municipal authorities, transport agencies, energy providers, telecommunications companies and environmental regulators, including ADNOC, Etihad Rail, TAQA Distribution and du.
Industry leaders attending the summit described the initiative as a significant step towards more efficient project delivery and stronger investor confidence. Officials said the Abu Dhabi infrastructure strategy would also create a more stable environment for contractors, developers and long-term investment partners operating across the emirate.
