RABAT: The Kalimat Foundation extended its humanitarian outreach to Morocco in 2024, gifting 600 books to children across multiple cities as part of its global effort to promote literacy in underserved communities.
Timed with the 30th Rabat International Publishing and Book Fair, the Foundation’s visit was headlined by its flagship “Pledge a Library” initiative. This saw the donation of four portable libraries containing 400 Arabic-language children’s books and a further 200 books awarded to Moroccan Reading Network Award winners.
At the heart of the mission was a visit to Moulay Ali Cherif Primary School in Rabat. Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Founder and Chairperson of Kalimat Foundation, led a reading session from her book House of Wisdom, giving each child a personal copy. The school also received a 100-book portable library to support long-term reading habits.
The event drew prominent attendees from both Morocco and the UAE, including Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, and Rachida Roki, President of the Moroccan Reading Network, who praised the Foundation’s engaging literacy model.
Expanding its footprint, Kalimat Foundation also supported the ASSAS Association in Ifrane with a portable library, digital tablets, and funding for library renovations. A creative workshop based on Famous by Accident, a Kalimat Group title, further enriched the experience.
Two more schools — Walja Al Sultan and Al Tanmiya — each received a portable library to deepen local access to Arabic literature.
The initiative was partially funded through proceeds from merchandise designed with Emirati artist and KF Creative Ambassador Mohammed Al Mansoori.
Kalimat Foundation’s efforts in Morocco are part of a global mission to provide access to books, libraries, and learning tools to children in need.
