BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi received the prestigious Tolerance Award 2026, recognising its contribution to coexistence, dialogue and community harmony.
ABU DHABI: BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi has been awarded the prestigious Tolerance Award 2026 during the 3rd International Dialogue of Civilizations and Tolerance Conference (IDCT 2026), recognising its efforts to promote harmony, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.
The BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi received the honour from the conference’s scientific committee, which evaluates individuals and organisations based on their measurable international impact in advancing tolerance and intercultural understanding.
Held in Abu Dhabi under the UAE’s Year of the Family 2026 initiative, the conference brought together government representatives, academics, religious leaders, media professionals and civil society organisations from around the world. The event focused on the theme of the impact of artificial intelligence and new media on families and communities.
The award acknowledges the Mandir’s growing role as a platform for dialogue and community engagement through initiatives including the Festival of Harmony, Omsiyyat and humanitarian support programmes during times of crisis. Since its opening, the BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi has welcomed visitors from diverse backgrounds while encouraging understanding between cultures and faiths.
Accepting the award, HH Brahmavihari Swami, Head of the Mandir, delivered a keynote address examining the relationship between technology, faith and family life. He urged delegates to consider not only the capabilities of artificial intelligence but also its influence on human values and relationships.
Highlighting the BAPS tradition of Ghar Sabha, a daily family gathering focused on prayer, discussion and reflection, he stressed the importance of meaningful human connections in an increasingly digital world. His message emphasised that while technology continues to evolve rapidly, strong families and compassionate communities remain the foundation of thriving societies.
The recognition of the BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi reflects the UAE’s continued commitment to promoting tolerance, dialogue and human fraternity while strengthening its position as a global hub for peaceful coexistence and cultural understanding.
