Severe flooding and deadly conflicts between the government and opposition forces since 2013 has destroyed communities and homes in South Sudan. Many in Central Equatoria have been forced to evacuate homes and belongings, to live under open air rife with diseases.

The International Committee of the Red Cross has called for priority aid in the humanitarian crisis but a recent barrage of floods has made it all the more harder to deliver aid.

“Families urgently need help,” they urged in a tweet Tuesday. “We provided over 13,000 people with food, but they still risk malaria, malnutrition, and waterborne diseases.”
