UAE relief teams delivered 116 tonnes of aid and conducted rescue operations in Sri Lanka, concluding their mission to assist Cyclone Ditwah victims.
COLOMBO: UAE relief teams have successfully concluded their humanitarian mission in Sri Lanka, providing vital support to those affected by Cyclone Ditwah and recent landslides, in line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The mission, part of the UAE’s urgent response, delivered 116 tonnes of emergency humanitarian aid. This included essential food supplies, shelter items such as tents, and comprehensive relief kits, all aimed at helping displaced families recover from the aftermath of the natural disaster.
As part of the operation, the UAE Search and Rescue Team conducted fieldwork alongside Sri Lankan authorities. Their efforts led to the recovery of 20 bodies of missing persons and the provision of first aid to eight individuals who sustained minor injuries.
The mission highlights the UAE’s established role in humanitarian response and disaster relief. The nation has built a reputation for acting swiftly to assist affected communities globally, reflecting a deep commitment to international solidarity.
