Netflix has agreed to acquire Warner Bros’ studios, HBO and HBO Max in an $82.7 billion deal, adding vast film and TV libraries to its streaming platform.
LOS ANGELES: Netflix just pulled off one of the biggest moves in entertainment history by buying Warner Bros. and HBO in a massive USD 82.7 billion deal. After weeks of fierce competition with other media giants, Netflix came out on top, gaining access to legendary franchises, hit TV shows, and one of the richest content libraries in the industry.
The deal includes USD 72 billion in equity and takes Netflix way beyond just being a streaming platform. It now owns some of the most iconic titles in film and television. Despite being known for building its own content empire, Netflix is switching gears. “We’ve always been builders, not buyers, but this is a big leap forward,” said co-CEO Ted Sarandos.
For now, HBO Max will still exist as a separate platform, but Netflix users can expect to see a lot more HBO content coming their way. The company says this deal means more choices for viewers and more ways to improve its subscription plans.

Netflix estimates the move could save them up to USD 3 billion a year by 2028 and boost their profits by 2027. It’s a bold strategy to dominate the streaming world by combining Netflix’s reach and tech with Warner Bros.’ storytelling legacy.
This mega-deal could shake up the entire entertainment world. Other companies may have to rethink their strategies fast. But for Netflix subscribers, this means one thing: more amazing shows, more movies, and even better content on the way.
