ABU DHABI: The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has released commemorative gold and silver coins as part of the “Zayed and Rashid” campaign, celebrating the legacy of two of the nation’s founding leaders—Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

The new coins honour the visionary leadership and historic roles both figures played in the formation of the UAE Union. The initiative also aims to strengthen national identity and instil a sense of pride and loyalty among citizens and residents alike.

The gold coin, weighing 40 grams and 40mm in diameter, features a detailed portrait of both leaders on the front. On the reverse side, the UAE national emblem appears, surrounded by the name “Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates” in both Arabic and English. This limited-edition coin is available exclusively at the Central Bank’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

The silver coin, weighing 50 grams and measuring 50mm in diameter, also displays the likenesses of the two leaders on one side. The reverse bears the national emblem and includes the label “Commemorative Coin” along with the Central Bank’s name in both languages. This coin is available for online purchase through the Central Bank’s official website.

CBUAE Governor Khaled Mohamed Balama stated, “We proudly announce the issuance of these commemorative coins, which embody loyalty and belonging to the national legacy left by Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid. This marks the ‘Zayed and Rashid’ campaign, aimed at reinforcing the values of unity and development on which our nation was built.”

He added that the initiative seeks to keep their memory alive for future generations while highlighting the enduring impact of their leadership on the UAE’s success.
