DUBAI: The UAE opened the World Laureates Summit with global flair and scientific firepower. President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum welcomed over 100 renowned scientists and Nobel Prize winners for what’s being called the largest gathering of scientific laureates in the world.
The summit runs alongside the World Governments Summit 2026, with 3 February marking a powerful crossover day where scientists meet world leaders. From AI to quantum physics, the goal is clear: bridge science with global policy to solve humanity’s toughest problems.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed called science a cornerstone of the UAE’s vision. “We are building a future with science at its heart. Scientists are partners in progress,” he said. His Highness added that the UAE will continue investing in knowledge, innovation and global partnerships to shape a sustainable and prosperous future.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid echoed the sentiment. “Civilisation is built by scientists. Hosting this summit is our way of opening doors for those turning the impossible into reality,” he said. “Science is the real wealth of nations, and people are our greatest investment.”
The summit saw the World Laureates Association announce a new base in the UAE, reinforcing the country’s role as a science and innovation hub. Nobel Laureate Roger Kornberg praised the UAE for not just following science, but leading it.
Minister Mohammad Al Gergawi and WLA Secretary-General Wang Hou highlighted how the UAE’s vision has positioned it as a beacon for global intellect, transforming discovery into action.
The summit’s agenda spans AI, genomics, blockchain, energy and neurotech, with back-to-back forums led by the world’s sharpest minds. From Dubai, the future of science is not just discussed, it’s being designed.
