UAE is working on evaluation to bring normalcy in view of the weather damage and to make ensure to minimize disruptions across the country due to heavy rainfall.

Sharjah Ruler directs assessment of damage resulting from weather impacts

The Ruler of Sharjah has instructed the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure to restore the valley streams in Fujairah to their original paths. This decision follows the redirection of the streams towards Kalba, which led to significant flooding in residential areas.

Additionally, His Highness ordered the reopening of valley drains in Fujairah, which had been filled in previously, causing further water accumulation in residential neighborhoods.

The directive also involves collaboration between the Sharjah Police General Command, the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority, and other relevant entities, along with the Social Services Department and municipalities. They will work together to assess damages and provide support to affected residents.

His Highness praised the efforts of field teams, including government and military personnel, as well as volunteers from the community. Their dedication ensured the safety of individuals and expedited the restoration of normalcy in the emirate amidst the weather impacts.

Dubai intensifies field operations to restore normalcy following adverse weather

RTA and Dubai Municipality swiftly responded to minimize disruptions across Dubai due to heavy rainfall. Measures included draining waterlogged areas, conducting cleaning operations, redirecting traffic for smooth flow, and restoring public transport services.

RTA confirmed that a proactive plan enabled the quick restoration of operations on main streets and full resumption of Dubai Metro services within two days while ensuring community safety.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of RTA, emphasized their integrated approach prioritizing safety, sustainable service, swift water management, and traffic restoration. He highlighted the deployment of emergency teams and joint control rooms involving Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, and real estate developers.

Al Tayer stated that over 2,500 personnel and 400 pumps, 300 tanks, and 200 heavy equipment units were involved in the response effort. Focus was on restoring Dubai Metro services and clearing water from major roads like Sheikh Zayed Road.

Dawoud Al Hajri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, underscored their ongoing efforts in addressing the aftermath of the unprecedented weather conditions. Their teams, comprising over 2,400 personnel, focused on drainage, waste management, and ensuring public health and safety.

Al Hajri highlighted their extensive resources and swift response to manage emergencies caused by heavy rainfall, emphasizing the protection of lives and property. Their field teams, equipped with advanced equipment, are working round the clock to ensure minimal disruption and maximum safety for Dubai residents.
