UAE President honours eight individuals with Abu Dhabi Awards

Abu Dhabi: His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, recently celebrated the 11th Abu Dhabi Awards ceremony at Qasr Al Hosn in Abu Dhabi, honoring eight remarkable individuals for their outstanding contributions to communities across the UAE.

The awards recognized individuals from diverse fields such as education, sustainability, medicine, humanitarian relief, community awareness, and empowerment of People of Determination. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan commended the honorees for their inspiring efforts and significant contributions, emphasizing the values of giving, compassion, and altruism they represent.

The ceremony was attended by esteemed dignitaries including Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, among others, along with the families of the recipients and supporters of the initiative.

Among the honorees were pioneers like Amna Khalifa Al Qemzi in organic agriculture, Dr. Ahmed Osman Shatila in neurology, and Salaamah Saif Al Teneij, a young advocate for children’s issues. Other awardees included Klaithem Obaid Al Matrooshi for his work in human rights, Mezna Matar Al Mansoori for her contributions to education, and Saeed Naseeb Al Mansoori for his philanthropy and support for education in the Al Wathba region.

John Sexton was recognized for his dedication to education, notably in the establishment of New York University Abu Dhabi, contributing significantly to the educational landscape of the nation.

The Abu Dhabi Awards serve as a platform to honor individuals who selflessly serve the UAE community, inspiring others to contribute positively. Established in 2005, the awards have recognized 100 individuals from 17 different nationalities across various fields, promoting a culture of giving and community service. Community members are encouraged to nominate deserving individuals for future editions through the Abu Dhabi Awards website.
