The UAE National Orchestra made its first public appearance at the Eid Al Etihad 54th celebration, performing the national anthem at Zayed National Museum.
ABU DHABI: In a deeply symbolic and historic moment, the UAE National Orchestra delivered its first public performance during the official Eid Al Etihad ceremony, held at the newly inaugurated Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi. This performance marked the orchestra’s national debut and celebrated the UAE’s 54th National Day with cultural pride and musical unity.
The event was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, alongside other Rulers of the Emirates and senior dignitaries. The ceremony combined sound, visuals, and storytelling to reflect on the country’s journey — from its founding to its present-day achievements — with the UAE National Orchestra providing the musical score throughout.
The highlight of the performance was the orchestra’s rendition of the national anthem, “Ishy Bilady”, which resonated powerfully with the audience and across the country. It was a proud debut that represented the UAE’s identity through music — blending heritage with modern orchestration.
Sheikha Alia bint Khalid Al Qassimi, Managing Director of the UAE National Orchestra, shared: “This first public performance during Eid Al Etihad holds deep meaning. It reflects our mission to use music as a bridge between the UAE’s rich heritage and its future. Performing at the Zayed National Museum is a tribute to our Founding Father’s belief in the unifying power of culture.”
Artistic Director and Conductor Amine Kouider added: “Contributing to this national ceremony was an honour. Through our unified sound and musical diversity, we aimed to express the strength of the UAE’s cultural fabric.”
Comprising 70 full-time musicians and 30 choir members, the UAE National Orchestra represents a wide range of Arabic and Western traditions. As part of its broader mission, the orchestra will bring music to communities across all Emirates — further enriching the UAE’s creative landscape and sharing the national story through sound.
