Indian community leaders in the UAE praise the country’s unique model of tolerance, coexistence and inclusive governance.

ABU DHABI: Members of the Indian community across the UAE have expressed deep admiration for the UAE model of tolerance, highlighting the nation as a global benchmark in peaceful coexistence and mutual respect. Speaking on the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance, several Indian community leaders praised the country’s harmonious multicultural framework that fosters unity among over 200 nationalities.

Sathya Babu, General Secretary of the India Social and Cultural Centre (ISC) in Abu Dhabi, stated that tolerance in the UAE extends beyond policies. “It is a national approach deeply rooted in practice, driven by the values of humanity, compassion, and inclusiveness,” he said. Babu cited key government initiatives such as the Wage Protection System, summer midday work bans, and rest facilities for outdoor workers as examples of the UAE’s commitment to residents’ well-being and dignity.

He noted how Indians in the UAE can freely celebrate festivals like Onam and Thrissur Pooram, which enhances the spirit of social harmony and cultural integration. The UAE model of tolerance, he said, allows communities to flourish while preserving their identity.

Echoing his sentiments, Beeran Kutty, President of the Kerala Social Centre in Abu Dhabi, praised the country’s proactive leadership, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. He described how all residents, regardless of nationality or background, received free testing, treatment, and vaccination—an exemplary act of inclusion and humanity.

Kutty also emphasised the country’s support for cultural and religious diversity, enabling communities to host music festivals, cultural events and religious practices openly. He applauded the government’s encouragement for multicultural dialogue and the provision of places of worship for various faiths.

With robust legal frameworks, inclusive policies, and a visionary leadership that embraces diversity, the UAE model of tolerance continues to set a global standard in peaceful coexistence and inclusive governance.
