UAE Kuwait drug bust dismantles international trafficking network and seizes over 14 million Captagon pills in major joint operation.
DUBAI: A major UAE Kuwait drug bust has led to the dismantling of an international trafficking network and the seizure of more than 14 million Captagon pills in a coordinated security operation.
The operation was carried out by the Dubai Police in close cooperation with anti narcotics authorities in Kuwait. Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National Anti Narcotics Agency, praised the high level of intelligence sharing and operational coordination between the two countries.
Authorities revealed that the criminal network attempted to smuggle the pills by concealing them inside sacks of corn grains. The shipment was distributed across five containers in an effort to evade inspection. Through detailed intelligence analysis and continuous information exchange, officers were able to track the movement of suspects and intervene at a critical stage.
The UAE Kuwait drug bust resulted in the arrest of three suspects while they were unloading the shipment for storage. A total of 2.25 tonnes of Captagon tablets were confiscated, amounting to 14,062,500 pills, making it one of the largest seizures targeting organised trafficking networks.
Dubai Police said the success reflects an integrated security strategy combining intelligence capabilities, advanced technology and rapid field response. Officials stressed that combating narcotics remains a top priority to protect society and prevent the UAE from being used as a transit hub for illegal substances.
The UAE Kuwait drug bust highlights the strength of bilateral cooperation and reinforces joint efforts to disrupt cross border drug supply chains across the region.
