Sharjah has approved 1,000 new government jobs and 393 scholarships, strengthening Emiratisation and graduate support in 2026.
SHARJAH: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved the employment of 1,000 Emirati men and women across government entities in the emirate, targeting newly graduated degree holders from all cities and regions.
With this latest approval, the total number of jobs announced under Sharjah’s 2026 budget now stands at 2,000 positions, reinforcing the emirate’s commitment to Emiratisation and long-term workforce development.
In addition, the Ruler of Sharjah approved the 2026 plan for the Sharjah Programme for Training and Qualifying Job Seekers, which will benefit 1,200 Emiratis with a financial allocation of AED 60 million. The programme includes professional training, job qualification support and a monthly allowance of AED 6,000 per participant, supporting both new and existing job seekers.
These initiatives form part of Sharjah’s wider strategic vision to empower graduates, support financial stability and ensure a decent standard of living across the emirate. As part of the implementation process, the Sharjah Department of Human Resources has been directed to begin organising job interviews starting next week, covering all cities and regions.
Speaking on the programme Direct Line on Sharjah Radio and Television, Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Member of the Sharjah Executive Council and Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Human Resources, confirmed that a practical training programme will launch in February, 2026. It will focus on professional and technical specialisations including civil and architectural engineering, accounting, information technology and programming, with the aim of direct placement in government entities.
The training will be delivered in coordination with multiple government bodies, including town planning, public works, housing, transport authorities and municipal departments.
Separately, the Ruler of Sharjah also approved 393 scholarships for Emirati students and children of Emirati women pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies at institutions across the emirate, further strengthening access to higher education.
