Sharjah: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), represented by the Sharjah Exports Development Centre (SEDC), successfully wrapped up its trade mission to India. This mission facilitated 365 bilateral business meetings, connecting companies from the mission with over 220 Indian businesses spanning diverse sectors.

The mission’s second phase included the Sharjah-India Business Forum in Mumbai, aiming to enhance trade and economic cooperation. Discussions highlighted investment opportunities in Sharjah and Mumbai, aligning with both countries’ economic visions.

The forum, attended by prominent figures including SCCI Chairman Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, explored over 205 bilateral business meetings, fostering partnerships between participating companies and Indian counterparts.

Al Owais emphasized the significance of strengthening economic ties between Sharjah and India, leveraging Mumbai’s global commercial prominence. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) further solidifies bilateral trade, with expectations of reaching $100 billion by 2027.

The forum underscored Sharjah’s investment appeal and its role in UAE’s industrial growth. It highlighted the advantages offered by Sharjah’s free zones to attract investors, particularly Indian entrepreneurs.

Discussions extended beyond the forum, including talks with governmental and private sectors in Mumbai, focusing on investment prospects. Meetings with Indian counterparts like the Plastics Export Promotion Council explored cooperation avenues, inviting participation in Sharjah exhibitions.

Al Owais reiterated the commitment to foster partnerships with Indian businesses, leveraging Sharjah’s infrastructure and facilitations. The mission emphasized attracting investments to support MSMEs and industrial ventures.

The SCCI delegates also encouraged participation in PLEXCONNECT 2024 Exhibition, highlighting opportunities in the plastics industry. This aligns with the UAE’s status as India’s key trading partner in plastics.

In its initial phase, the mission organized the Sharjah-India Business Forum in Chennai, facilitating over 160 bilateral meetings. Field visits further explored cooperation in various economic sectors, emphasizing mutual benefits and knowledge exchange.
