The Emirates Red Crescent launches a winter aid campaign to support 1.8 million people in 24 countries, with major relief for Gaza.

ABU DHABI: The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has launched its annual winter aid campaign to support over 1.8 million vulnerable individuals facing harsh weather across 24 countries. With a total allocation of AED 37.1 million, the campaign highlights the UAE’s sustained global humanitarian commitment.

A significant AED 27 million has been dedicated to assisting 1.35 million people in Gaza, reaffirming the UAE’s consistent support for the Palestinian people amid mounting humanitarian crises. This allocation underscores the UAE’s role as a leading donor and relief partner on the international stage.

The winter campaign will distribute vital supplies including winter clothing, blankets, heating materials, food and hygiene parcels, children’s essentials and emergency shelter items. These provisions will be deployed via UAE embassies and ERC offices in the targeted countries, ensuring rapid and efficient delivery.

Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, Secretary‑General of ERC, emphasised that this year’s campaign reflects the UAE’s deep‑rooted values of solidarity and leadership under Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the direction of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He noted that the expansion of this campaign is in direct response to deteriorating conditions in several regions and rising global humanitarian needs.

He also acknowledged the crucial role of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 in facilitating aid distribution, praising the seamless coordination between local and international humanitarian partners.

The winter campaign by Emirates Red Crescent remains a vital initiative to protect lives, reduce suffering, and bring hope to millions affected by winter hardships and ongoing crises.
