DUBAI: The Dubai World Trade Centre bridge opens on Friday, August 14, giving motorists a new route designed to cut travel time from the major events district from 10 minutes to just two minutes during busy events.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said the new 500-metre, two-lane bridge will carry traffic from Dubai World Trade Centre and One Central towards the intersection of Al Mustaqbal Street and Za’abeel Palace Street.
The opening is part of the AED 633 million Al Mustaqbal Street Development Project, a major infrastructure programme targeting traffic flow through one of Dubai’s busiest business, financial and events districts.

Under the wider project, Al Mustaqbal Street is being expanded from three to four lanes in each direction. Once complete, capacity is expected to rise by 33%, from 6,600 to 8,800 vehicles per hour in both directions, while journey times along the corridor are projected to fall from 13 minutes to six minutes.
The Dubai World Trade Centre bridge is particularly significant during major exhibitions and conferences, when thousands of visitors converge on the area. The wider development is expected to benefit around 500,000 residents and visitors while improving access to DWTC, Dubai International Financial Centre, Za’abeel, Downtown Dubai and Business Bay.
RTA Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors Mattar Al Tayer said the development would improve access to key financial, business and events destinations while supporting investment, trade and tourism.
More road improvements are scheduled to follow. RTA plans to open another bridge by the end of August serving motorists travelling from Sheikh Rashid Road towards 2nd December Street. A final bridge serving traffic from Al Majlis Street towards 2nd December Street is scheduled to open in October.

Three tunnels totalling 1,500 metres at the intersection of Al Mustaqbal Street and Trade Centre Street are scheduled to open in February 2027. The wider development also includes pedestrian improvements, a cycling track, upgraded intersections and better connections between surrounding developments and Dubai Metro stations.
Work on the Al Mustaqbal Street project has now exceeded 50% completion and is progressing ahead of its approved timeline.
