DUBAI: Sheikh Zayed Road transformed into a sea of movement and energy this morning as a record 307,000 participants joined Dubai Run 2025, presented by Mai Dubai, the flagship event of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC). With over a 300% increase in participation since its first edition in 2019, the event has solidified its reputation as the world’s largest free community run.

Starting just before sunrise, waves of runners – from elite athletes to casual joggers, families, and children – filled the city’s iconic highway, creating one of the most vibrant and inclusive fitness events globally. The route came alive with lights, music, and electric energy, echoing the DFC theme: Find Your Challenge.

Participants had a choice between a family-friendly 5km route through Downtown Dubai and a more challenging 10km course that passed iconic landmarks such as the Museum of the Future, Dubai Water Canal, and Burj Khalifa before ending at the DIFC Gate Building.

Entertainment throughout the event elevated the atmosphere, featuring everything from police supercars, aerial paramotors, and warrior drum crews to live DJs, MCs like Kris Fade and Katie Overy, and performers including circus acts, marching bands, and LED puppets. The finishing zones celebrated every runner with bubble arches, mist zones, and cheerful mascots.

His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, highlighted the event’s community spirit: “This turnout is a testament to Dubai’s commitment to fostering a healthy and active lifestyle for all residents and visitors. It’s about unity, fitness, and fun.”

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), added that Dubai Run showcased the city as a “global wellness destination,” welcoming people from all walks of life to celebrate wellbeing and togetherness.

Dubai Run marks the completion of three major DFC events and sets the stage for the grand finale, Dubai Yoga, on 30 November at Zabeel Park. As DFC 2025 enters its final week, fitness villages, hubs, and free sessions continue across the city to help residents complete their 30×30 challenge.
