Tanweer Festival 2025 opens in Sharjah’s Mleiha Desert with immersive performances, art, and soul-stirring music under the theme “What You Seek Is Seeking You.” Experience Tanweer Festival magic.
SHARJAH: The much-anticipated second edition of the Tanweer Festival opened with grandeur and grace in the serene Mleiha Desert of Sharjah, launching a three-day cultural celebration blending art, music, and human connection. Held under the guiding theme “What You Seek Is Seeking You,” the festival sets a global stage for reflection, creativity, and shared experiences in a setting steeped in heritage and natural beauty.
Launched by HH Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Founder and Visionary of Tanweer Festival, the opening ceremony drew visitors from around the world into a soulful journey of expression and contemplation. “At Tanweer, we gather in the sacred Mleiha landscape to pause, reconnect and find stillness far from the rushing, agitated world,” she said, adding that the festival offers “a moment of clarity, presence and renewal.” Her heartfelt speech was enhanced by a live performance from Iraqi santur maestro Azhar Kubba.
The festival showcases over 183 performers from 23 nations, with events held across four dynamic spaces—the Main Stage, Tree of Life, Dome, and Marketplace—each designed to evoke all the senses. Attendees can immerse in 28 unique performances, 11 large-scale art installations, 9 workshops, and an array of cultural and culinary offerings.
Opening night highlights included a performance by French light calligraphy artist Julien Breton (Alif Motion Artist) alongside musicians Oliver Milchberg and Mohammed Al Numa. Palestinian singer Aya Khalaf brought heritage to life through haunting melodies, while India’s Rooh-e-Noor, mentored by Khatija Rahman under the guidance of A.R. Rahman, offered a powerful all-women vocal performance blending cinematic and classical notes.
A.R. Rahman himself closed the Main Stage segment with an unforgettable rendition of Wings of Love, captivating the desert audience under the stars. Earlier performances by Morocco’s Nass El Ghiwane at the Tree of Life stage fused rhythm with ancestral storytelling, deeply resonating with the landscape.
From stargazing and fossil safaris to guided archaeological tours at Mleiha Archaeological Centre, the Tanweer Festival 2025 connects nature, culture, and consciousness. Visitors can also enjoy artisanal crafts, food stalls, and experiential workshops that turn the desert into a living classroom.
Tanweer Festival continues until November 24 and is a must-attend for seekers of inspiration and soulful cultural experiences.
