DUBAI: Dubai has achieved an impressive eighth position globally and first in the Middle East in the 2024 Global Power City Index (GPCI), marking the second consecutive year of this achievement. Released by Japan’s Mori Memorial Foundation, the index celebrates Dubai’s leadership in innovation, economic dynamism, and global connectivity.
This recognition solidifies Dubai as the only Middle Eastern city in the top 10, reinforcing its global prominence in business, talent, and investment.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, attributed this success to the visionary leadership of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. “Dubai redefines possibilities, blending innovation, sustainability, and talent nurturing,” Sheikh Hamdan said. “This ranking reflects not just leadership but the collective efforts of countless individuals driving excellence.”
Sheikh Hamdan highlighted key factors such as Dubai’s world-class infrastructure, progressive legislation fostering innovation, and strong public-private partnerships as pillars of this success. He added, “Dubai is not just keeping pace with global trends; it’s setting new benchmarks for excellence.”
The GPCI evaluates cities based on “magnetism,” measuring six dimensions: Economy, Research and Development, Cultural Interaction, Livability, Environment, and Accessibility. Dubai’s rapid ascent in these rankings underscores its growing global appeal.
Sheikh Hamdan reaffirmed Dubai’s commitment to sustainable growth, saying, “We are steadfast in consolidating Dubai’s status as a city of the future, embracing strategic innovation and creating opportunities across industries.”
With a focus on enhancing quality of life and economic prospects, Dubai continues to attract top minds, businesses, and investors. As one of the fastest-growing cities in the index, it remains a leader in urban innovation, global connectivity, and resilience.
