DUBAI: Dubai Customs has successfully prevented the smuggling of 147.4 kilogrammes of narcotics and psychotropic substances, stopping a major security threat at a strategic seaport. This operation reinforces Dubai’s commitment to border security and the fight against transnational crime.
The bust was made possible through advanced screening systems and the vigilance of Dubai Customs’ inspection teams, who detected irregularities in a transiting shipment. A thorough inspection uncovered the hidden contraband, leading to swift action by authorities.
Dubai Customs collaborated with enforcement agencies, including the K9 Unit, to confirm the presence of illicit substances. Detection dogs helped validate the initial findings, ensuring all legal measures were swiftly enacted.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, praised the customs officers for their expertise and dedication. He stated, “This interception highlights our commitment to national security and economic protection. By integrating advanced technologies and proactive strategies, Dubai Customs remains a strong defence against criminal networks.”
