The Al Marabea Street upgrade is now complete on a key 1.1-km stretch, cutting peak-hour travel times by up to 30 per cent.
DUBAI: Drivers using Al Marabea Street in Dubai could now have a quicker and smoother journey, especially during busy hours. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed upgrades on a 1.1-km stretch between the Al Khail Road exit and Al Asayel Street, increasing road capacity and helping reduce traffic.
The Al Marabea Street upgrade has increased the road’s capacity by 30 per cent and could cut journey times by up to 30 per cent during peak hours. The work was carried out to deal with traffic bottlenecks in the area and make daily journeys easier as traffic continues to grow across Dubai.
RTA has also expanded an intersection along the route by adding a new lane for drivers travelling from Al Marabea Street towards Street 16A. According to RTA, this change has reduced traffic queues and congestion at the intersection by around 50 per cent. New lighting poles have also been installed to improve visibility and make the road safer at night.

The improvements are particularly useful because Al Marabea Street is an important route through Al Quoz. It connects Al Khail Road with Al Asayel Street and provides access to several industrial, commercial and residential areas. The road is also used by motorists travelling between Al Quoz, Meydan, Business Bay and Downtown Dubai, making it a busy connection for people commuting through this part of the city.
And the work is not completely finished yet. RTA is carrying out more improvements along Al Marabea Street, including a new service road and a continuous pedestrian walkway for the nearby industrial area. A new access point is also being added at the start of the Al Khail Road exit towards Al Marabea Street. These additional works are expected to be completed by the end of August 2026.

The Al Marabea Street upgrade is part of RTA’s wider work to improve roads around Dubai as neighbourhoods grow and more vehicles use the network. Rather than only focusing on major new highways, smaller changes such as extra lanes, better junctions and improved access points can also make a noticeable difference to everyday traffic.
For drivers who regularly travel through Al Quoz or towards Business Bay and Downtown Dubai, the biggest benefit should be less time spent sitting in traffic during the busiest parts of the day.
