ABU DHABI: The UAE is making massive strides in citizen housing, investing billions in the Year of Community to enhance family stability and homeownership. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, extensive initiatives have been launched to support Emirati families, reflecting the leadership’s commitment to well-being.

The UAE boasts a 91% homeownership rate, one of the highest globally, thanks to innovative housing strategies. In January, over AED 1 billion in housing approvals were granted under the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, benefiting more than 1,300 citizens. The waiting time for approval is now just two months, among the fastest in the world.

In Abu Dhabi, an AED 6.75 billion housing benefits package was approved, aiding 4,356 citizens. This includes AED 5.08 billion in loans, AED 1.58 billion in land grants and ready-built homes, and AED 94.8 million in loan exemptions for senior citizens and low-income retirees. Since its inception, the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority has provided AED 168.85 billion in benefits to over 123,000 citizens.

Dubai is also seeing a housing boom, with AED 5.4 billion allocated for 3,004 new homes under the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme. Meanwhile, the Home First initiative was launched in March to improve housing options and urban planning.

Sharjah has approved 2,000 land grants, ensuring more Emiratis have access to residential and investment land. With ongoing projects in Al Ain, Hatta, and rural areas, the UAE is setting new benchmarks in citizen housing development.
