NEW DELHI: India’s government has officially branded Kasturi Cotton to compete with the world’s finest cotton varieties, such as Egyptian Giza and American Pima. This move aims to establish India’s cotton as a global contender in quality and recognition.

Kasturi Cotton, with fibre lengths ranging from 28 mm to 35 mm, meets strict quality benchmarks set by India’s National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL). These standards align with those of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), ensuring consistency in softness, strength, and durability.

A key feature of Kasturi Cotton is its verifiability through blockchain technology, offering transparency and authenticity in global trade. The Indian government’s trademark registration guarantees quality assurance, providing buyers worldwide with confidence in the brand.

The Ministry of Textiles has initiated a global marketing push to raise awareness of Kasturi Cotton. “Participation in international events has been planned for creating worldwide awareness of the Kasturi Cotton branding programme,” stated Kasturi Cotton Bharat, an organisation established for this initiative. The strategy includes extensive publicity campaigns in major markets to generate demand for India’s premium cotton.

With this branding effort, India aims to elevate its cotton industry, giving it a stronger foothold in the premium textile sector.
