A company based in New Zealand called Annabelle’s put up a ‘Charpai (traditional Indian handcrafted cot) for sale with a price tag of $800 NZD (AED2,938).
Yes, you read it right! A small cot for such a price.
Simply put a Charpai is a bedstead of woven webbing or hemp stretched on a wooden frame on four legs, found in households across India. It is all about how you market the product, in this case, this cot is being sold with the name ‘Vintage Indian Day Bed’ and in the description, it is tagged as ‘original’ and ‘one-of-a-kind.’
