MBRSC and KFAS signed a strategic MoU to enhance scientific cooperation in space, remote sensing, and satellite research, supporting Arab space innovation.
KUWAIT CITY: In a significant stride towards regional scientific collaboration, H.H. Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait, received Salem Humaid AlMarri, Director General of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), during an official visit by the UAE delegation to Kuwait.
The meeting, held at Bayan Palace, focused on strengthening ties in space science and technology between the UAE and Kuwait. Discussions included enhancing collaboration with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), exchanging scientific and technical expertise, and developing long-term partnerships to support regional innovation.
A key highlight of the visit was the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MBRSC and KFAS. The agreement outlines a framework for cooperation in space exploration, satellite development, remote sensing, and applied research. It also includes the exchange of technical knowledge and launching specialised training programmes for researchers and students.
The agreement aligns with the UAE’s broader vision to foster Arab collaboration in the space sector through innovation, education, and knowledge-based development. According to MBRSC, this partnership marks a strategic milestone in building a robust Arab space ecosystem, focusing on human capital development and sustainable scientific advancement.
KFAS noted that this cooperation complements its ongoing efforts to establish the Kuwait National Centre for Space Research in partnership with Kuwait University. The centre will serve as a national hub for research, training, and the development of space-related initiatives, empowering young Kuwaiti talent to contribute to global space missions
This collaborative step between the two nations underscores their shared ambition to develop national capabilities, boost regional competitiveness in the space sector, and contribute meaningfully to global space exploration efforts.
