Dubai: Fasten your seatbelts once again as the smash hit “Boeing Boeing” is back again to enthrall Dubai audiences due to popular demand! Play had a fantastic run in Nov 2023, and due to the love and appreciation the show has received, producers are staging it again for TWO shows ONLY on December 16th and 17th at 7.30 pm at The Junction in Al-Serkal Avenue UAE , with tickets selling on Platinumlist starting at 100 AED with a special discount for students at 80 AED upon presentation of Student ID.

What do you get when you put three air hostesses, two international Casanovas, and one housekeeper into a single apartment – total chaos! H72 productions brings to you the classic “Boeing Boeing” written by Marc Camoletti and Directed by Sarah Potter. This theatrical production promises to be a super-sonic comedy with a lot of confusion, confessions, chaos, and near escapes!

Written by French playwright Marc Camoletti and translated to English by Beverly Cross and Francis Evans, the show follows swinging bachelor Bernard in his flat in 1960s Paris. Bernard is simultaneously engaged to three gorgeous women – Gloria, Gabriella, and Gretchen – who are all flight attendants and don’t know the existence of each other. Bernard’s life begins to fall apart when his friend Robert visits and a new, speedier Boeing jet completely messes up his planning. To top things off, the three women arrive in Paris simultaneously. When one door closes, another opens – literally!

Sarah Potter, the director of the show, says this project has been in the works since 2017, “I am excited and nervous! I have been blessed with a fantastic cast who have accepted my vision for the production. It was slated to go on last year, however due to certain external factors (pandemic), it was cancelled one day before the show. The cast and crew wanted to eventually bring this project to the people of Dubai, and here we are today!  Boeing Boeing is a classic 1960s farce, with the situation getting more ludicrous as the play unfolds and central protagonist, Bernard trying desperately to keep everything – including his three fiancées and recalcitrant housekeeper – under control, with the help(?) of his old schoolfriend Robert. The fantastic cast keep up a frenetic pace and will keep you guessing how it’s all going to turn out until the very end.”

Asad Raza Khan, playing the role of Bernard, is excited to be part of such a multi-cultural cast, “We have so many nationalities in the play, a true depiction of how UAE is. This play has been on our radar for some time now. It is a wonderful story which has been not only performed on Broadway, but also adapted into Hollywood and Bollywood movies. Get set – it is going to be one bumpy ride! With the world back to travelling to normal after a few challenging years, we thought it is the best time to perform a play about – well airlines and airhostesses!”

Dee Gee, playing the role of Robert, is thankful to H72 and The Junction for the opportunity. “I have been performing with them for years and this is perhaps the most interesting role that I have had the pleasure to perform. I hope I can live up to the expectations of the community and this fantastic role!”

Priyanka Johri who is a stalwart and veteran of the theatre community is playing the ever so vibrant Italian Gabriella.  “Being a part of this production has truly been a roller coaster of laughs. Coming back to stage after three years I couldn’t have asked for a better cast and crew to work with, rehearsals are so much fun that keeping a straight face is the most difficult part of it. The perfect way to leave your troubles behind, It’s an evening of absolute chaos, mayhem and a total laugh riot. Come watch us entertain you thoroughly!”

Gabriela Ioana playing the role of Gretchen is enjoying the process, “What a cast and what a crew! I have been part of many productions in Dubai but honestly this has been the most fun I have had in the rehearsals. We hope that the audience crack up as much as we have putting this play together! Everyone is just so funny!”

Sumaya Kubeisy  who plays Bertha, says “It’s been great fun re-creating this classic comedy and meeting a fantastic bunch of actors. We all truly look forward to rehearsals and everyday we find a different reason to laugh out loud! We are sure that the audiences will enjoy watching the show as much as we have rehearsing it!”

Vicky Clips playing Gloria is excited to be part of such a dynamic and experience cast! Gloria is so much fun! She’s a contrarian who is entitled and manipulative, yet charming, intelligent, and irresistible. What drew me in are the beliefs we have in common but what I’m enjoying most is playing the dissimilarities that don’t come so naturally to me. She reminds me how wonderful it is to be a woman in an unequal world!”

H72 Productions has been an integral part of community theatre in the U.A.E since over 13 years. They have consistently churned out multiple productions every year across a variety of different genres. However none of this would have been possible without the ever vibrant community and their continued support.
