DUBAI: Dubai International Airport (DXB) is gearing up for a massive influx of travellers this festive season, with over 5.2 million passengers expected to pass through its terminals from December 13 to 31.

The daily footfall is forecasted at an average of 274,000 passengers, with December 20 set to be the busiest day, welcoming nearly 296,000 travellers. The weekend from December 20 to 22 will also witness heightened activity, with around 880,000 passengers expected to arrive, depart, or transit through the airport.

To ensure a smooth experience for travellers, Essa Al Shamsi, Senior Vice President of Terminal Operations at Dubai Airports, shared their preparation strategy. “Delivering the exceptional experience that DXB is known for during peak travel periods is always a challenge, but one we are well-prepared to meet with collaboration across the oneDXB family,” he said.

Adding to the festive cheer, Terminal 3 will be transformed into a winter wonderland. Passengers can expect joyful surprises like a Nutcracker marching band, a Magic Station for gift-wrapping and photo opportunities, and an exclusive carollers-meet-beatboxers fusion performance. The aim is to turn each journey into a memorable festive experience.

This travel surge reflects Dubai’s growing appeal as a global tourist hub. Of the total 5.2 million passengers, 1.7 million are expected to arrive, while 1.5 million will depart from Dubai, underscoring its position as a key winter holiday destination. With its world-class shopping, dining, and winter-perfect weather, Dubai remains a top choice for international travellers seeking unforgettable festive experiences.
