DUBAI: Emirates airline is gearing up for its busiest festive season yet, with record passenger numbers expected throughout December. The airline has urged travellers to plan their journeys early as daily departure figures have surged by nearly 20% compared to last year.
In 2023, more than 75,000 passengers departed daily from Dubai International Airport. This year, the number has soared to as high as 89,000 passengers per day, reflecting the growing demand for air travel during the holiday season.
The peak travel dates for December are expected to be from December 12 to 15, December 20 to 22, and December 27 to 29. Each of these days will see over 88,000 passengers departing from Dubai, with the Christmas and New Year periods driving the highest numbers.
Emirates has advised customers to arrive at the airport early and complete online check-in to avoid delays. With such a large influx of passengers, the airline aims to ensure smooth operations and minimal disruptions.
The increase in passenger numbers highlights a strong recovery in global travel demand and cements Dubai’s position as a major international travel hub. This festive rush is seen as a positive sign for the aviation industry, which has been gradually bouncing back after global disruptions in recent years.
For many travellers, Dubai serves as both a holiday destination and a key transit point, making it one of the busiest airports in the world. Emirates continues to play a crucial role in facilitating this movement of passengers, especially during the peak holiday season.
With festive celebrations on the horizon, the airline is preparing for a season of record-breaking travel, bringing people together from across the globe.
