Dubai crowned No.1 global destination in Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards for third consecutive year

Dubai has achieved a remarkable feat by securing the top position as the No. 1 global destination in the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best 2024 awards for the third consecutive year, making it the first city to achieve such a milestone consecutively.

This recognition coincides with the first anniversary of the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, reflecting the success of the strategic vision launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The ambitious agenda aims to solidify Dubai’s standing as one of the world’s top three cities for business and leisure, and the ultimate destination to visit, live, and work in.

Dubai’s global recognition was announced by Tripadvisor, the world’s largest travel guidance platform, in its Travellers’ Choice Awards for 2024: Best of the Best Destinations. Notably, these accolades are exclusively based on millions of global travelers’ reviews, forming Tripadvisor’s community. The awards consider the quality and quantity of reviews and ratings for hotels, restaurants, and experiences in each destination over a 12-month period from October 1, 2022, through September 30, 2023.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, highlighted Dubai’s consistent global achievements as a testament to the emirate’s progress. He emphasized the commitment to visitor satisfaction, ongoing development, and a strong partnership with the private sector for sustained success.

Dubai’s Director-General of the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), Helal Saeed Al Marri, attributed the unprecedented achievement to the collective efforts of stakeholders, acknowledging the efficacy of the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Al Marri expressed confidence in Dubai’s continued elevation as a top global destination for business and tourism.

The recognition by Tripadvisor adds to a series of global accolades, affirming Dubai’s multifaceted appeal. With continued efforts in infrastructure, service excellence, and effective marketing, Dubai’s unique proposition has positioned it as a vital contributor to economic growth, constituting over 10 percent of the city’s GDP.

The latest data from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism reveals a 20 percent increase in international overnight visitors between January and November 2023, further validating Dubai’s status as a preferred global destination.
