Burjeel Holdings’ AiMed Solutions has signed an MoU with Proximie to develop AI-powered operating rooms in Abu Dhabi, enhancing surgical efficiency, patient safety and hospital workflows.

ABU DHABI: Burjeel Holdings has partnered with healthcare technology company Proximie to develop AI-powered operating rooms aimed at improving surgical efficiency, clinical decision-making and patient care.

The agreement was signed through Burjeel Holdings‘ intelligent healthcare platform, AiMed Solutions, at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit 2026.

The partnership introduces a four-stage development programme under Burjeel’s ONE OR initiative. Specifically, it aims to integrate artificial intelligence into surgical procedures, hospital operations and patient management.

Proximie’s surgical intelligence platform is already being implemented across 10 operating rooms at Burjeel Medical City in Abu Dhabi. Building on this deployment, the new programme will address 45 functional requirements.

How AI Will Transform Operating Rooms

In the first stage, the programme will introduce real-time surgical intelligence. Medical teams will receive live updates on operating room performance, potential delays and upcoming procedures.

Additionally, AI will support clinical documentation and improve coordination between surgeons, nurses and hospital administrators.

The second stage will focus on productivity, surgical safety checklists, workflow monitoring and hospital bed management.

Meanwhile, the third stage will extend AI capabilities to endoscopy, cardiac catheterisation laboratories and interventional radiology.

Finally, the fourth stage will introduce surgical instrument tracking and advanced performance monitoring.

Proximie’s platform currently operates in more than 700 operating rooms worldwide. It uses data from medical devices, sensors and electronic health records to monitor surgical activities and anticipate delays.

Through this collaboration, the companies will combine Proximie’s technology with Burjeel’s clinical expertise to develop practical, scalable healthcare solutions.

Burjeel Holdings said the initiative would strengthen surgical decision-making and improve hospital efficiency.

Similarly, Proximie expects the technology to enhance communication, optimise resources and support better patient experiences.

Impact to Expect

Overall, the initiative could reduce surgical delays, improve operating room utilisation and support safer, more coordinated patient care across UAE hospitals.
