DUBAI: The Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) has launched its inaugural overseas event, MIHAS@Dubai, marking a pivotal step for Malaysia’s halal industry. Held from November 18 to 20 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the event aligns with the Middle East Organic and Natural Products Expo, offering an ideal platform to showcase Malaysia’s halal innovations to the MENA region.

The debut event reflects Malaysia’s vision to expand its halal influence globally, particularly in the Middle East, where demand for halal products is soaring. With sectors ranging from food and beverage to cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and logistics, MIHAS@Dubai highlights Malaysia’s diverse offerings.

Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, inaugurated the event, emphasizing Dubai’s strategic role as a gateway to the Middle East. He stated, “Expanding MIHAS to Dubai underscores our commitment to globalising the halal industry, leveraging Dubai’s position as a major trading hub.”

Backed by MATRADE, MIHAS@Dubai features over 200 Malaysian exhibitors showcasing quality products and services. Key highlights include the International Sourcing Programme (INSP), fostering business matching opportunities between Malaysian exporters and global buyers.

The global halal market, projected to reach $5 trillion by 2030, presents immense opportunities for Malaysia. Recent trade growth figures, with a 10.2% increase from January to September 2024, demonstrate Malaysia’s robust trade performance. MIHAS@Dubai is expected to bolster these numbers further, solidifying Malaysia’s status as a top halal exporter.
