Spider-Man: Brand New Day reviews are overwhelmingly positive, with early reactions praising Tom Holland’s performance, emotional storytelling and action ahead of the film’s global release.
UAE: Following the film’s world premiere in Los Angeles, critics and entertainment journalists have flooded social media with praise for the latest Spider-Man adventure, calling it one of the strongest entries in the franchise and Tom Holland’s best performance yet.
Early viewers have described the film as emotional, grounded and character-driven, with many applauding director Destin Daniel Cretton for moving away from the multiverse-heavy storylines and focusing on Peter Parker’s personal journey after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Several critics have gone as far as calling it one of the best Spider-Man films ever made. Fandango’s Erik Davis described the sequel as “deeper, more thoughtful and more mature” than the previous trilogy, while other reviewers praised its mix of action, humour and emotional storytelling.
Tom Holland’s performance has received particular praise, with reviewers saying the actor delivers his most confident and emotionally layered portrayal of Peter Parker to date. Sadie Sink, whose role had been kept largely under wraps, is also being singled out as one of the film’s biggest surprises.
The action sequences are another major talking point. Critics say the film features some of the best web-slinging and fight scenes seen in a Spider-Man movie, while also giving supporting characters, including Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, memorable moments on screen.
Not every reaction has been glowing. A handful of reviewers felt the film runs a little longer than necessary, and some described it as a transitional chapter that sets up future Marvel stories rather than standing entirely on its own. Even so, the overall response has been overwhelmingly positive.
The early buzz is also reflected in review aggregator scores, with the film earning strong ratings from critics ahead of its theatrical debut.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases in the UAE on Thursday, July 30, 2026, one day before its US release on July 31. Advance bookings are already open at major cinema chains, including VOX Cinemas.
