DUBAI: Kaakee Circus series has been officially announced by ZEE5 Global, with the bilingual Tamil and Malayalam original set to premiere on 10 April 2026. The Kaakee Circus series promises a fresh mix of crime, comedy, and fantasy, unfolding within the unusual setting of a sub jail.
Directed and written by Ameen Barif and produced by Srinithi Sagar under Rise East Entertainment, the seven-episode show was previously developed under the title Once Upon a Time in Kayamkulam. The new title reflects its eccentric tone and unpredictable storytelling style.
The Kaakee Circus series revolves around a bizarre incident in a quiet coastal town, where someone mysteriously breaks into a prison instead of escaping from it. As a book-loving jailer and an enthusiastic constable attempt to unravel the mystery, the situation spirals into chaos with townsfolk, inmates, and amateur detectives adding to the confusion.
The ensemble cast includes Munishkanth, Subash Selvam, Rajesh Madhavan, Gowthami Nair, and several others, bringing together a dynamic mix of talent across industries.
Speaking about the project, Ameen Barif highlighted the show’s unique tone, combining humour, thriller elements, and fantasy while staying rooted in a small-town setting. Munishkanth described the series as unpredictable and engaging, praising its balance of comedy and tension.
