PARIS: Kim Kardashian Paris heist damages have attracted attention after a French court awarded the American reality television star just €1 over the armed robbery that traumatised her nearly a decade ago. But the tiny sum was not a rejection of her claim. It was exactly what Kardashian had requested.
The ruling relates to the October 2016 robbery at the Hôtel de Pourtalès in Paris, where Kardashian was held at gunpoint, bound and robbed of jewellery worth more than $6 million.
Among the stolen items was a diamond engagement ring reportedly worth about $4 million. Much of the jewellery has never been recovered.

The answer lies in what Kardashian wanted from the civil proceedings.
Rather than seeking a substantial financial award, she requested a symbolic €1. Did other victims receive larger damages?
Yes. The court awarded a former receptionist at the hotel €109,516 after he reported suffering trauma connected to the robbery. The Hôtel de Pourtalès itself received €50,000.
Those awards further demonstrate why Kardashian’s €1 should not be interpreted as the court placing a minimal value on the crime or its impact.
Kardashian has previously described the robbery as an experience that left a lasting effect on her and her family. During the 2025 trial, she travelled to Paris and gave emotional testimony about the night she was attacked.
The robbers had entered her hotel accommodation during Paris Fashion Week, restrained her and escaped with jewellery.
