Sheikh Nahyan attends GEMS Education’s ‘Family First’ launch ceremony

Dubai: Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, recently joined the launch of “Family First” by GEMS Education. The launch was at GEMS World Academy in Dubai.

This initiative aims to bring positive change by promoting love and care. It also enhances the holistic learning experience for students across GEMS schools.

The launch event saw the presence of Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director-General of Dubai’s Community Development Authority. Around 500 GEMS family members, including Founder Sunny Varkey, students, parents, and grandparents were also present.

Sheikh Nahyan emphasized the crucial role of families in fostering peace, tolerance, and prosperity in society. He praised the Family First movement for promoting values like peace, tolerance, and personal growth. He also highlighted its importance in today’s world.

The movement encourages GEMS families to spend quality time together. It also encourages discovering new experiences and drawing upon the wisdom within their homes.

Upcoming plans for 2024 include conducting a survey on family values, organizing monthly discussions led by experts. A gala event was hosted to celebrate stories embodying Family First principles.

Each GEMS school in the UAE and Qatar has appointed a Family First “Champion”. He will to lead school activities promoting family values.

All 44 GEMS schools will incorporate family values into their curriculum, such as teaching ethical behavior and exploring family history.

Sunny Varkey, the Founder of GEMS Education, highlighted the importance of family relationships. He also emphasized their significance in both developing and wealthier nations.

He underscored the role of grandparents as essential sources of stability and wisdom.

Dr. Saima Rana, GEMS’ Group Chief Education Officer, expressed gratitude for families’ contributions to the education process. She acknowledged them as crucial pillars of support for learners.
