146 Indian students awarded Erasmus Mundus scholarships for studying in Europe

New Delhi: 146 Indian students, including 75 women and 71 men, received Erasmus Mundus scholarships for the 2024 academic year. These scholarships allow them to study for a two-year Masters programme in Europe. The programme, marking its 20th anniversary, partners with international universities to offer integrated study opportunities.

Since its start in 2004, over 2000 Indian students have benefited from Erasmus Mundus scholarships, totaling more than 6000 scholarships awarded globally. This initiative provides access to advanced education, research facilities, and professional networks, enhancing career opportunities for Indian students.

The European Union’s Delegation in India hosted an event to celebrate these scholars, emphasizing the growing cultural and academic exchanges between the EU and India. The students will start their studies in Europe from September, pursuing joint or double degrees in fields like sustainability, engineering, data sciences, and social sciences.

The Erasmus Mundus scholarship covers tuition, travel, and living expenses for the duration of the programme. Herve Delphin, Ambassador of the European Union to India, highlighted the increasing preference of Indian students for European education, citing diverse academic offerings and cultural richness.
