ABU DHABI: Since its debut in 2019, the UAE Tour has cemented its reputation as a premier global sporting event, blending athleticism with tourism to highlight the UAE’s progress and landmarks.
As the only WorldTour race in the Middle East, the UAE Tour has become a vital platform to showcase the nation’s iconic sites, including the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Louvre Abu Dhabi, and Jebel Hafeet, while boosting tourism domestically and internationally.
Strategic partnerships with global sponsors have amplified its reach, attracting investments that bolster the UAE’s sports infrastructure and create job opportunities in sectors like logistics, marketing, and hospitality. For the 2024 edition, over 6,000 hotel nights were booked, supported by 90 sponsor-provided vehicles and nearly 1,000 event staff.
The event has also seen thrilling victories, with champions such as Primož Roglič, Tadej Pogačar, and Remco Evenepoel leaving their mark on the UAE Tour’s history. Lennard Kämna, a Belgian cyclist, triumphed in the 2024 edition, continuing the legacy of world-class competition.
Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, lauded the event’s global impact: “The UAE Tour reflects our country’s social, cultural, and economic diversity, reaching millions worldwide.” He emphasised the pride in hosting the seventh edition next February, which promises to attract top cycling stars.
Tour Director Fabrizio D’Amico highlighted how consistent support from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council has elevated the UAE Tour to its prestigious status among international cycling events.
This February, the UAE Tour will return, combining thrilling races with a celebration of the UAE’s achievements, landscapes, and innovation in sports tourism.
