SHARJAH: The waves were full of energy this weekend as the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) wrapped up the emirate’s debut edition of Ocean Man Sharjah at Al Khan Beach. The open-water swimming championship attracted more than 500 swimmers from 62 countries, cheered on by 2,500 enthusiastic spectators.

Held over two thrilling days, the event featured five race categories, designed for swimmers of all ages and skill levels. The final day saw the 5 km Half Ocean Man, which drew the highest turnout, and the gruelling 10 km Ocean Man, testing the endurance of elite swimmers.

On the opening day, the spotlight was on families and amateur swimmers. Events included a 2 km sprint, a 500-metre team relay, and the much-loved Ocean Kids race for children aged 7 to 14. Parents praised the family-friendly vibe, with activities and games along the beach and enhanced safety through coordination with emergency teams.

The event was made possible by a strong network of supporters, including Sharjah Police, Civil Defense, Shurooq, Marine Sports Club, Municipality, BEEAH Group, Zulal, and Zulekha Hospital as medical partner.
