ABU DHABI: The Abu Dhabi International Tennis Complex at Zayed Sports City is a distinguished hub that has played a pivotal role in popularising tennis across the UAE. Renowned for hosting top-tier players and events, it underscores Abu Dhabi’s position as a global sporting destination with year-round international tournaments.

Established in 2004, the complex features nine outdoor tennis courts, including a 5,000-seat main stadium and two 500-seat courts. Beyond tennis, it boasts 3×3 basketball courts, padel courts, and a 600-square-metre multi-purpose space, accommodating diverse events.

“The International Tennis Complex is a unique landmark within Zayed Sports City and a cornerstone of Abu Dhabi’s global sporting ambitions,” remarked Suhail Al Arifi, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. He highlighted its exceptional infrastructure, offering year-round opportunities for athletes to train and compete, along with facilities for basketball and padel tournaments.

Since hosting its inaugural tournament in 2006, the complex has welcomed legendary players, including Maria Sharapova, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Ons Jabeur, and Carlos Alcaraz. Its calendar is anchored by the Mubadala World Tennis Championship and the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, a WTA 500 event and the most prestigious annual tournament at the venue.

In addition to tennis, the complex has hosted landmark events like the Special Olympics World Games, the FIBA 3×3 World Tour, and WWE wrestling matches, showcasing its versatility.

This iconic venue not only promotes tennis but strengthens Abu Dhabi’s global reputation for excellence in sports infrastructure and event management. With its world-class facilities, the Abu Dhabi International Tennis Complex continues to attract elite talent and diverse competitions, further solidifying its status as a premier international sporting destination.
